his question poses another qustion: by which country will Central Asia be colonised then? Let's imagine that CA was colonised by Great Britain... Now, let's look through the map and say which countries of Asian part of Eurasia were colonised by this duper power: Afghanistan, Pakistan, India... and now, let's look through the modern history of these countries: ignorance and religious fanatism, poverty and no access to education for the majority of common people... That is one possible case of our possible development.
Now, let's imagine that CA was occupied by China: it means that Xingjang would be two times bigger by territory... No other variants except Russia's invasion would have such a happy ending: now at least 90% of our populations can at least read and write their names...

Maybe there would have not been separate Central Asian Countries or maybe we would have been labled another names instead of Kyrgyz or Uzbek

Many things are possible
