Call for Submissions: "Perspectives on the Participation of Girls and Boys in South and Central Asia", Deadline for abstracts 15 May 2005
on Thursday, March 31, 2005 - 08:29 AM Posted by: Admin
Participatory action and research has offered a promising new framework for child rights advocates, development workers, researchers and policy makers who are committed to social justice and change. Participatory approaches with children and young people have demonstrated the multiple benefits of engaging the perspectives of girls and boys: challenging social exclusion, redistributing power and building the capacity of children to analyse and transform their own lives (including lives of communities) and to partner in the building of more democratic communities. But we have not given enough attention to systematically evaluating and critiquing our practice. This special issue of Children, Youth and Environments (CYE) will offer an international forum to review and advance the field, developing its potential through cross-cultural dialogue, self-reflexive critique, and critical synthesis.

on Friday, March 18, 2005 - 12:50 PM Posted by: Admin
Dear CAYNers, supervisors and moderators - and any other reader of this web-site,
Slightly less than one month has passed since the research seminar 2005 took place. Just like last year, we found the research seminar to be a very interesting event. We spent five days in the beautiful surroundings of lake Issyk-kul, Kyrgyzstan. It was a great pleasure to witness the active and sincere interest and deep involvement of all the participants (students, supervisors and guest speakers) at all sessions during the week. With the research seminar, we have launched the second year of CAYN and it is with great pleasure that we welcome the CAYNers 2005 to the Network. |

Call for Articles: Thinking-East.Net Project
on Friday, March 04, 2005 - 08:27 AM Posted by: Admin
Thinking-East.Net is a fresh, pioneering project started by two young Western academics to bring together young thinkers from North Africa, the Near and Middle East, and Central Asia to report and reflect upon cultural, spiritual, ideological, historical, economic and political issues that are important for their homelands. Too often the important issues are overlooked and always the voices of the educated youth--YOU--are ignored. It is the dream and hope of Thinking-East.Net that by offering young thinkers space to publish their ideas in English, unrestrained from the agendas of established publishers and political-intellectual elites, bit by bit we can effect positive changes in our troubled era.
