WELCOME AND GOOD LUCK!!!
Dear CAYNers, supervisors and moderators - and any other reader of this web-site,

Slightly less than one month has passed since the research seminar 2005 took place. Just like last year, we found the research seminar to be a very interesting event. We spent five days in the beautiful surroundings of lake Issyk-kul, Kyrgyzstan. It was a great pleasure to witness the active and sincere interest and deep involvement of all the participants (students, supervisors and guest speakers) at all sessions during the week. With the research seminar, we have launched the second year of CAYN and it is with great pleasure that we welcome the CAYNers 2005 to the Network.

Throughout the Seminar we hope you had time to get to know each other better and to familiarize yourselves with the OSCE and its dimensions of security as well as to CAYN and the CAYN website. It was also our aim to give you time to discuss the topics of your research with other students and supervisors and attend sessions aimed at improving your presentation, public speaking and academic writing skills.

We are now ahead of a year full of intense work, communication and research within your groups. There are numerous deadlines to be observed and drafts and final papers to be submitted. We encourage you to be diligent, patient, and hardworking as this will pay off well during the November conference where you will stand up and present your works. It will also pay off at the publication of the best research papers at the end of this year. Meanwhile, visit the forum, this website, keep up the communication with your group and supervisor and enjoy the whole experience.

We would call upon all CAYNers, both 2004 and 2005, to make use of this Network. The Network is You, remember? If you are active and use this opportunity, it will be a succesful programme. We, on our behalf, are ready to assist you to the best we can, however, the success of it and survival is in your hands. Welcome again and good luck!

Sincerely,

Per and Komila on behalf of the OSCE Centres in Central Asia
